The Janome HD9 is the ideal machine for the really serious sewing enthusiast who is looking for precise quality straight stitching at double the normal speed.

Janome HD9

The Janome HD9 is a strong, fast straight-stitch machine. If you spend all day sewing straight stitch through various fabrics, this chap may be the one for you. He's tough and dependable. An old fashioned type with a solid metal body and a flat-bed design. Rather takes me back to when I started work for Dad. (1970's)

What makes the difference is, the HD9 has been teamed with the latest easy to use electronic features. These make life easier. Take for example the speed control. Lot's of machines have speed controls these days. But a speed control on a machine like this is really useful. You're perhaps going to need it more than most. What with all that sewing you do. And all the types of fabrics you sew. All those little tricky bits.

The needle up and down control is handy. Especially when you need to pivot your work. Working on big projects - bridalwear, perhaps. The knee lift will help you enormously as it lets you keep both hands on your work. Tell you what I like on this one. The push-button scissors. Push a button and it cuts your thread, saves you snipping it with scissors.

I used to service all the sewing machines in a posh ladies dress shop. Upstairs, in a small room, were six or seven ladies, older ladies. They chatted away all day long as they took in waistbands, let some out, and adjusted hemlines on expensive dresses, skirts and trouser suits.
They did all this using worn out SInger 201k sewing machines, and similar. I'd service each machine in turn and the ladies always made me a cup of tea, and offered me a chocolate biscuit, or two.
Sadly, those ladies are all long gone, now
I can only imagine their faces if I could have shown them the HD9 with all its fab features.

Dad always used to say the workshop is the backbone of our business. From the 1970's both Alan and Steve learned the trade by starting in the workshop. Since those early days, we have both attended many technical training courses across the UK, Germany and Switzerland.
