About Bamber Sewing Machines
|Bamber Sewing Machines is a 'bricks and mortar' business with a shop in Eccles, Manchester. Roy Bamber, was born in 1931. He was a boy during the second world war and Salford, where he lived, was a regular target for the Luftwaffe. There were many factories around the Salford and Manchester area as well as the docks. So, not long after the war in 1946, bomb sites covered Salford. One day Dad spotted a sewing machine sat on top of one of these bombsites. He scrambled up and dragged the machine down. He took it home and bought himself how to refurbish it. Finally, he sold it.
After his national service Dad got back into sewing machines. He built up his business, shop by shop. Alan joined in the late 1970's and brother Steve, a few years later.
We are Main Agents for Bernina, Brother and Janome and have over 50 sewing machines on display. We also keep large stocks of spares and haberdashery. Dad always said, the workshop is the backbone of the business. Bambers are expert in the repair and service of most makes and models of domestic sewing machine.
Both Alan and Steve, along with our fabulous staff, try to uphold Dads values, honest straight-forward advice.
