Since 1988 Moira has been creating sumptuous garments and transforming interiors with luxurious home fashions. Her inspriation shines through in her work, combining the finest fabrics with complimentary designs.

Moira started designing very young and, after moving to California, decided the time was right to launch her business modi designs international and in 1988 opened for business. Moira was able to learn and develop her skills at design and makethrough by attending workshops and seminars and working closely with her clients. She succeeded in creating a variety of womens/mens fashions and soft furnishings for the home and office.

Since relocating back to Scotland Moira has gained a diploma in fashion & clothing technology and recently ran some successful sewing workshops in Glasgow. She is happy to see the realisation of her work in offering these sewing workshops with you in mind.

Modi Sewing Tip 2010

When sewing 2 long lengths of fabric together often times you find that the top fabric slips leaving an overhang at the end of your sewing which means that your pieces don’t match and you have to take it out and start again. This is easily remedied if you do the following:

· Before sewing, lay out your 2 pieces of fabric one on top of the other.

· Fold the full length in half and clip a small notch marking the centre of the length.

· Now fold again in half and clip further notches on the (4) raw edges which marks the quarter positions of your full length.

· Line up your fabric for sewing.

· Start sewing remembering to secure your stitching at the beginning and end of the seam.
